Ethaor
Torah Quest | map · read · search · count | The Hebrew Bible (Tanakh)
Ethaor builds gateways into the Torah.
Every move leads toward a הֵיכָל Hekhal, a memory palace.
The next stage of development is a set of three-letter keys, such as ברא, each giving an accord: a right note, a heart note and a left note. In this way, every word can be felt through each run of three consecutive letters: בְּרֵאשִׁית, for example, holds “ברא”, “ראש”, “אשי” and “שית”.
How to use
Each feature has its button in the app, with the icon shown here; its name appears when the pointer rests on it.
-
Map mode
The whole Tanakh on one map, from its three portions down to the verse. Zoom with the wheel, a pinch or + −; drag to move; click a verse to read its passage. Esc brings back the three portions.
-
Book mode
The same text read by scrolling, chapter after chapter, at the size you choose: Ctrl and the wheel, or a pinch. The place you read is kept from the map to the book and back.
-
Search
Opens the searches: each asks for a word, typed or tapped on a keyboard of the Hebrew letters.
SearchConsecutive lettersthe word as it is written
Equidistant lettersthe word spelled by letters taken at a fixed skip (ELS)
First lettersthe word spelled by the first letter of words in a row
Last lettersthe word spelled by their last letter
MZLa letter of the Tanakh drawn at random
Every search is kept, in a colour of its own: its letters light up on the map and in the book, and its count opens its passages.
-
Select text
Turn it on, then drag over verses, names or numbers: a menu opens on the selection.

The text
The Hebrew Bible with vowels according to the Masoretic Text, as published by Mechon Mamre. Where Miqra according to the Masorah, as Sefaria publishes it, reads otherwise, both readings are shown.
For developers and AI agents
What the map computes is open as a public JSON API, no key needed: ethaor.com/api describes every endpoint, and ethaor.com/llms.txt sums it up.
